Empathy

I tread my path alone
Like the man in black I walk the line
Where it leads who knows?
I don’t, although the destiny’s mine
I make my fate my own
It’s long, my road, I can’t waste time
But who wants to be alone?
If you want to join me, read the signs
They’re pretty clearly shown
But no-one reads them. They’re all so blind
Skulls so thick with bone
They can’t understand. But I don’t mind.
I’m great on my own
Like the man in black I’ll walk the line….

    1. Thank you 🙂 yes it’s not an easy one but I think many writers do. I am fortunate in that I have a lot of friends, and in particular a very close friend who is like my twin! But still you get lonely sometimes. This poem came from an unhappy place in my heart which is quickly hardening up now. Hence I walk alone in defiance!

  1. Also reminded me of Rabindranath Tagore’s famous song which exhorts the listener to continue his or her journey, despite abandonment or lack of support from others.:-)

  2. I’m a geek. I read man in black and I thought Dark Tower, not Johnny Cash 😛 lol I love this piece, especially the thick-boned skulls bit (:
