Diamonds Are Forever – Trifecta weekend challenge.

It’s just a stone
But it shines like Betelgeuse
Worth a king’s ransom
Or a queen’s.
Liquid beauty
Light of a thousand stars
Flawless perfection
Stands alone.
Diamonds are forever.

  1. I think DeBeers could use this in an ad campaign 🙂 Diamonds are pretty, but because we don’t have a king’s (or queen’s) ransom, I stick to the small stones!

    1. Thank you 🙂 Yes they are ridiculously expensive but then a lot of work goes into making them beautiful. I remember visiting the Natural History Museum in London when I was a kid, and they had a section on the manufacture of diamonds… You could see every stage, from the beginning as a standard sort of rock right through to this gorgeous multi-faceted jewel…. So much cutting and cleaning and polishing and making sure there are no flaws…. It was amazing to see.

  2. weird, I had to read this twice to find “stone”. I was captivated by the fantasy element and that last line. good work.

  3. Very interesting. I’m with Katie–I’ve been reading more about African history. The blood on those diamonds kind of tarnished them for me. It’s really interesting (to me) how the same rock can mean different things to different cultures. All of that said, I do love my own diamond ring. And this piece. 🙂

    1. It IS interesting, how something as simple as a beautiful gem can influence people so much, usually to the detriment of others. History is littered with the results of that influence. Bizarre when you think about it.
