Trifextra – The Mouth of Hell

Can you guess?
It was the charge of the century, famous thereafter mainly for its bloodied infamy
For the want of communication the battle was lost
And Florence was left to pick up the broken pieces.

    1. This is the Crimean War, during the reign of Queen Victoria. The Charge of the Light Brigade was a tragedy that happened due to a miscommunication. Many died and it became the subject of a famous poem by Poet Laureate Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

      1. Oh,I am familiar with that poem-I had a classmate in school who recited this poem in 7th standard & won the first prize(he still writes amazingly & orates too though he is an Engineer by profession):-)Thank you for the extra info on the Crimean war:-)

      2. Wow. Now that is truly impressive! Unfortunately I am not so great at reciting poetry but can usually remember the story behind the poem if called upon to do so…!

  1. what an accomplishment to give life to all three words and teach us something in the meantime.
I loved the tale you weaved, ending with the nurse who helped to heal the hurt.

    Have a good weekend

  2. Charge of the Light Brigade. Well done and full of mystery if the answer not known! Am pretty sure I studied this with onomatopoeia. Into the jaws of death…

    1. Wow that’s a huge compliment! Thank you! Actually one of my several varied jobs is as tutor to someone who struggles with school because she is diabetic and misses a lot… Apart from writing (which doesn’t pay at the moment) that is my favourite job 🙂

  3. I agree, your way of writing about history is SO MUCH better than the boring books kids are forced to suffer through (*shudder*)… you have an awesome gift!

    1. Oh I feel quite showered in compliments! Thank you! History is nearly always interesting, it’s the way it is written and taught to kids that is the problem. It’s the same with English. I could go on about this issue all day – it’s a favourite soapbox topic of mine. Stop me before I get carried away….!!
