Trifextra – Crash, Bang, Wallop, an Ode to Onomatopoeia

Crash – you fell into my life
Bang – my heart thudded faster while I was flying
Until
Wallop – I had to hit the ground
Splash – tears fall as I descend
Snap – my heart breaks

  1. This one is my favorite so far. Maybe because I am a hopeless romantic. I felt each emotion of it.
Snap…that’s exactly what the sound of a dream and a heart breaking sounds like.

    have a good weekend

  2. I feel like I hit warp-speed, smack-dab through this relationship. Like a ride at the amusement park – fun & dizzying. Don’t worry – it didn’t make me want to go hurl. πŸ˜‰ Great piece!

  3. Ouch. That final line — “snap” — was an interesting choice for the sound of a heart breaking; it actually did make me flinch a bit.
    Great use of onomatopoeia! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you πŸ™‚ onomatopoeia, despite being a difficult word to spell (especially when my ‘smart’ phone keeps trying to correct it. Wrongly.) is one of my favourite literary devices. I also like a good simile. But that was another story.
